Ron Paul presents a threat to the currently entrenched version of Republicans. While Ron Paul is very similar to the Barry Goldwater/Robert Taft Republican, this is obviously an unwanted presence by the Neo-Con faction of the GOP.
Why would the GOP belong more to Cheney/Bush type Republicans than Goldwater/Taft Republicans?
It seems to me that the Neo-Con days of the GOP are numbered. The American public is losing interest in the Neo-Con vision and the remaining core is desperately trying to hold on. It is not surprising that The Neo-Con Republican does not want to see a change within the GOP, but the change has already occurred.
The market is no longer buying what the Neo-Con Republican is selling. There is demand for a new GOP and Ron Paul is that product. Obviously, the quicker the GOP accepts and endorses Ron Paul, the quicker they can return to power.
The reality is that the GOP would rather push a Neo-Con such as Giuliani and lose the White House than allow Ron Paul to win. Is that because a Democrat is more desirable than a Goldwater/Taft conservative?
I can only surmise that a smaller government led by a conservative is less profitable than having a Democrat in the White House. Consider that the conservatives in AM talk radio promote Neo-Con Republicans and consistently attempt to discredit Ron Paul. Let's look at the issues that would typically concern a conservative.
The Issues:
Lower Taxes
Smaller Government
2nd Amendment/Gun Rights
Secure Border/No Amnesty
Private Property Rights
States Rights
Without any doubt Ron Paul has consistently upheld these conservative beliefs for decades. The same can not be said for the other "top tier" candidates. So why then do AM talk radio personalities reject Ron Paul while promoting non-conservative candidates such as Rudy Giuliani?
It is clear that Ron Paul has the viewpoints that are much more widely accepted by Americans today. Ron Paul believes in the Constitution and that message comes through loud and clear!

Not only is Ron Paul a threat to the currently entrenched neo-cons, he is a threat to the whole political game that both the dems and the reps have been perpetrating on the people for decades, Bill Clinton one of the worst to sell the people down the river.
Ron Paul scares the holy out of all of them because anyone who tells the truth does, like Mike Gravel, that is why Clinton and Edwards were caught planning aloud how to exlcude the "not serious" candidates from debates.
When greed, anti-Constitution and anti-constituant agendas of both the democrats and republicans is palpable, they are the same; one is not the lesser of two evils, they are equal.
The only reason I can see that an American wouldn't vote for Ron Paul is because they are just scared to death of Liberty, a sound and solid economy, self responsibility, and being financially and economically independent from countries with dictators with global super power status and who really do "hate freedom," like China.
